Hi everyone! As I have mentioned over and over before, I recently started a second part-time job. Some days, I work 8am-2pm. Other days, I work 8am-4pm. Or until 5pm if I didn’t finish all my tasks for the day. On weekends, I work all day and night. And at least once a week, I work both jobs in one day. Just the other day, I worked my 8am-2pm job and then my other job at 5pm-9:30pm. A lot of people ask me how I do it. I don’t even know how I do it, especially when I tend to stay up late. But the key to successfully doing it is finding the right balance that works for you. One main factor in doing so is keeping a consistent sleep schedule. Today, I’ll be showing you how to get a good night’s sleep with the help of Vicks #ZzzQuil Sleep-Aid.
7 Ways to Get a Good Night’s Sleep

1. Work out!
First of all, physical activity helps you get a good night of sleep.
A lot of days, I find myself restless. And one of the few things that helps is working out. It also helps me relieve stress. Although I get a rush of adrenaline right after working out, it helps me relax when it comes to bedtime and I know I’ll have a good night’s sleep.

2. Take a shower or bath before bed.
Next, taking a shower or bath before bed helps you sleep well.
Some people like to shower in the morning but I prefer to do it at night. I don’t like going to bed still feeling dirty. Not to mention, taking a warm shower before bed helps my mind and muscles relax. It also helps me unwind after a long day and prepares me for a good night’s sleep.
3. Drink up!
Another way to get good sleep is by drinking up.
And I don’t mean wine or beer, which actually makes it harder to sleep… Trust me, I’ve learned from past experiences. So avoid alcohol before bed and noΒ caffeine after 5pm!Β Usually, I try to drink a glass of water when I go to bedΒ andΒ when I wake up. I make sure it’s room temperature so it helps regulate my digestion and circulatory system. Also, I do this on purpose so my bladder is full in the morning and I’m not forced to sleep in if you know what I mean.
4. No technology at least 1 hour before bed.
Then, shutting off all electronics an hour before bed also helps.
I’m sure you’ve read this before but it’s true. If you want a good night’s sleep, you should shut off all electronics at least one hour before bed. No social media, no checking your phone, no laptop, no television. The screens on your electronics send out a blue light that actually activates theΒ pineal gland in your brain, which releases melatonin and regulates sleep, and makes it harder to fall asleep.
You can read more about that in an article by the Washington Post.
5. Read or journal instead!
Speaking of reading… It’s a better alternative than scrolling through your phone before bed. While some people prefer to read, I like to journal all my thoughts, feelings, and experiences throughout the day. It’s another way to help relieve my stress and anxiety from the day.

6. Take a sleep aid.

When insomnia is still keeping you up and all else fails, I recommend taking a sleep aid such as Vicks ZzzQuil Sleep Aid. Recently, I received a complimentary sample for testing purposes. I can’t wait to share with you guys! Stay tuned for a review about it.
7. Set an alarm… Or two… Or three and don’t snooze!
And finally, I don’t know why but I have this fear that I’ll sleep through my alarms, although it’s almost never happened.
Usually, I set three alarms — one for when IΒ wantΒ to wake up, another for when I actually get out of bed, and a final one to let me know when I should leave my house to arrive at work on time. I should also mention that it’s not a good idea to snooze. I learned that the more you snooze, the more tired you feel.
So it’s best to get out of bed after your first alarm goes off.
Conclusion on How to Get a Good Night’s Sleep
Well, that’s it for this post! Sometimes, I struggle to get a good night of rest. Fortunately, Influenster was kind to send me free samples of Vick’s ZzzQuil Sleep Aid to test and review. This inspired me to list things I normally do to sleep well. Those methods include exercise, showering before bed, staying hydrated, turning off electronics, journaling, taking a sleep aid, and avoiding the snooze button in the morning. I hope these tips help you get a good night’s sleep.

I agree about the technology – it’s over stimulating. I do have a filter app on my laptop that helps to combat the blue tone – it tints my screen as the daylight changes. It’s really useful – it’s called f.lux

No technology! That is so true. Although the reading a book thing does not apply to me. I tend to flip through every chapter until my heart’s satisfied and before I know it, it’s morning. Haha. π

AnneDoes it really? That’s a good thing too, I wish I was more of a reader! When I read in bed, it instantly knocks me out. I don’t know if it’s because I’m laying down and I’m comfortable or not.
Thanks for visiting and liking my post though! x
