Can you believe we’re already three weeks into the new year? Hopefully, none of us have ditched our new year’s resolutions yet. One of my personal goals for the new year is to consistently go to the gym and have a set workout schedule. I know how hard it can be, especially during the cold weather or when you’re tired from a long day at work. But I’m going to share some tips on how to stay motivated at the gym. Stick around if you want to learn more!
6 Ways to Stay Motivated at the Gym

1) Create a “Fitspo” Pinterest board.
First, one way to stay motivated at the gym is to create a “fitspo” Pinterest board. On my health & fitness Pinterest board, I pin images and links of workout challenges, yoga poses, pre-workout snack ideas, and “fitspo” pictures of toned abs and booties. Having a vision board, such as a fitspo Pinterest board, will help you stay motivated at the gym.
2) Constantly visualize your end goal.
Second, having a vision board or fitspo Pinterest board also makes you constantly visualize your end goal.
This way, it helps you stay motivated at the gym. Having something to look forward to can be your reason and motivation for working out. For example, I’m going to Coachella in April. That’s three months away!! Unfortunately, I’ve gained some winter weight over the holidays but hope to get back into shape before Coachella. Thinking about all the cute outfits I plan on wearing to Coachella is a good enough reason for me to stay motivated at the gym.
3) Buy clothes you want to work out in.
Speaking of cute outfits for Coachella, buying cute gym clothes can also help you stay motivated at the gym. Spending money on a pair of Nikes and Ivy Park yoga pants makes me wanna strut my stuff and helps me stay motivated at the gym. You want to look good and feel good, right? So why not work out in style?

4) Have a workout buddy.

If you don’t feel confident enough to exercise alone, you can always have a workout buddy to stay motivated at the gym. Having a workout buddy can help you look forward to going to the gym. Your friend can also keep you accountable for actually working out. You can even start a competition with each other. This can make working out more fun and keep you motivated.
5) Keep track of your progress.

Although having a workout buddy can hold you accountable for going to the gym, it’s also crucial that you keep track of your own progress. This will help you visualize your progress and see how far you’ve come along since you started. You can track your progress on paper or digitally. I’ve seen some workout trackers for bullet journals. Moleskine even has a wellness journal where you can track things such as your diet, exercise, and personal goals. Womanista also provides a great printout (seen above) that you can use to track your meals, exercise, and water consumption. Personally, I prefer to track my workouts on the iPhone Health app and the MyFitnessPal app. I’m a visual person and seeing my progress helps me stay motivated at the gym.
6) Mix up your workouts.

Finally, another way to stay motivated at the gym is to mix up your workouts.
Doing the same thing every day can get boring. One day, I’ll focus just on my legs. Another day, I’ll focus on cardio. For more relaxed days, I’ll do yoga instead. You can find various workout plans Tone It Up. Mixing things up makes working out more exciting and helps you stay motivated at the gym.
Conclusion

There you have it! Those are six ways to stay motivated at the gym. First, you can create a Pinterest board for fitspiration. Second, constantly visualize your end goal. Then, buy clothes you actually want to work out in. Next, have a workout buddy to hold you accountable. Also, keep track of your progress. And finally, mix up your workouts so you don’t get bored. With these tips, I hope you continue to stay motivated at the gym!
