Hi everyone! It’s been a very long while since my last post, but I’m finally getting back into the groove of blogging. I took the last 9-10 months off to focus on my career, relationships, and life in general. It’s definitely been hard to get back into, but blogging is absolutely something I’m still passionate about. And to ease back into things, here’s a quick recap of what I have been up to the last 9 months.
What I Have Been Up to the Last 9 Months
I finally saw the 1975.
I finally got to see the 1975. They played songs from their latest album, as well as their popular hits like “Chocolate.” I danced, I laughed, and I ran into good friends at the show!
I celebrated my 29th birthday.
Although I’ve been dreading the end of my twenties, I still celebrated my 29th birthday. My boyfriend took me out to a local restaurant, where we shared a charcuterie board with some glasses of wine. As low key as it was, I wouldn’t have wanted to celebrate my birthday any other way.
I got a new-ish camera.
As a birthday gift, I got a Nikon D300S from my uncle, whose hobby is also photography. It’s not a brand new camera but it’s still fun and exciting for me!
I’ve been focusing more on work.
Since the start of 2019, I have been focusing more on work. I finally figured out how to improve my productivity and efficiency. In April, I was able to beat my deadlines and my increased efforts didn’t go unnoticed. As a token of appreciation, my supervisors presented me with an Amazon gift card. Also, I was nominated for Administrative Employee of the Year! I didn’t win the award but it still felt good to be nominated and recognized for my efforts.
I went to Warped Tour.
Ever since we were kids, my sister and I went to Warped Tour together. While the music scene is changing, it only made sense to keep the memories alive by continuing to attend Warped Tour while we can. This year, we decided to attend the Mountain View dates and enjoyed some pop-punk bands from our childhood.
I upgraded my laptop.
It’s been long overdue but I finally got a new laptop. I somehow got through eight years worth of schoolwork and blogging with my first MacBook but it was time for an upgrade. My old laptop was getting so slow, I couldn’t multitask or get anything done. Not to mention, my screen wouldn’t display the graphics properly. And that’s why I stopped blogging for awhile! But now that I have a newer and faster laptop, expect more frequent blog posts.
I changed my hair.
You know what else I was long overdue for? A haircut and color touchup! I can’t believe I went a whole year without maintaining my hair… Until my hair was so outgrown and I couldn’t stand it anymore. Then one random day, I took the risk of going to a new stylist but I don’t regret it at all. She totally exceeded my expectations and I’ll be going back to her for a touchup.
I attended the Central California Women’s Conference.
Every year, I get to attend the Central California Women’s Conference with my coworkers. The CCWC is a business conference where women gather and empower each other. There are informational booths, seminars, and endless opportunities to network. This year’s keynote speaker was Miss Tyra Banks! She retold the story of her rise to top model and business mogul. And of course, she also taught us how to smize and pivot.
I did some community service work.
Two of my company’s core values are community and service. Rather than raising money for a charitable cause, my company teams up with the city and gives back to the community. We do this through various neighborhood revitalization projects such as cleaning alleyways and planting new flowers. This year, my department helped build a new fence for an elderly couple. None of us are used to hard, physical labor but all the sweat, dirt, and sore muscles were worth it in the end. The homeowner’s smile and gratitude said it all.
And now here we are. It’s a new season and I’m ready to fall back into things. During my time away from blogging, I’ve come up with a bunch of new and exciting ideas. I can’t wait to share them with all of you! It’s been fun catching up.
What’s new with you?
