First Day of Fall at Universal Studios

Hi everyone! In my last post, I visited Disneyland for Pixar Fest. A few weeks after that, I went to Universal Studios for one of my best friend’s birthday. We went to Universal Studios on the first day of fall, to be exact. What better way to spend the autumnal equinox than at Universal Studios? And especially the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?! Halloween Horror Nights had already started but we opted out of it. Instead, we decided to spend a little more money on Universal Express passes so we wouldn’t waste our time waiting in long lines. And it was well worth it! We were able to get on a majority of the rides and attractions. Keep reading to see exactly how we spent the first day of fall at Universal Studios!

But first, group pic!

From left to right is Andy, Sindy (the birthday girl), Johny, and me. Since Universal Studios closes at 6pm for Halloween Horror Nights, we wanted to arrive as soon as the park opened. That way, we could make the most out of our day!

When in Hogsmeade, grab a butterbeer.

According to a Buzzfeed article, it’s best to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter as early as possible because it gets busy around lunchtime. So as soon as we got into the park, we went straight to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. And of course, we had to stop in Hogsmeade for some butterbeers!

Onwards to Hogwarts!

While waiting in line for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, I had to take advantage of the photo op. One thing I absolutely had to do before the day ended was to take a picture in front of Hogwarts Castle while wearing my House colors. Go Ravenclaw!

Next stop… Springfield.

After riding Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, we made our way to Springfield. Very much like Homer Simpson, we indulged ourselves with junk food and alcohol all day long.

Our first stop in Springfield was Moe’s Tavern. We all got different kinds of Duff Beer — Duff Original, Duff Lite, and Duff Oktoberfest. I got Duff Lite, which tasted exactly like Coors Light. I tried the other beers and liked Duff Oktoberfest the most. After finishing our beers, we continued our adventure through Springfield.

Our next stop was Lard Lad Donuts. Another Universal Studios essential is the giant pink donut. The four of us shared one but couldn’t finish it because it was overly sweet. But hey, gotta do it for the ‘gram!

After filling up on beer and donuts, we rode the Simpsons Ride. Although the Simpsons Ride doesn’t have an Express lane, the lines are covered with canopies so you’re in the shade while you wait.

By the time we got off the Simpsons Ride, we were all hungry. We stopped at Bumblebee Man’s Taco Truck… for some street style tacos, obviously. The taco truck is conveniently located next to the Duff Brewery Beer Garden so we had some beers with our tacos. Finally full and satisfied, we ordered one more round of drinks before going on the Studio Tour, which was about an hour and a half long.

After the Studio Tour, we went down to the Lower Lot of Universal Studios. We rode Revenge of the Mummy, then Transformers. Since Jurassic Park was closed, we went back to the Upper Lot. The Walking Dead Attraction was also closed so we all agreed to ride on Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. To end our day, we all decided to ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey one more time before the park closed.

Compared to my previous amusement park trips, this was one of the best ones. I went with a smaller group and everyone was able to agree on what to do. Having the Express Passes also helped reduce the wait time and we were able to do most of the rides and attractions. We’re definitely planning to go back soon!

  1. Your pictures came out amazing! I love the Krustyland pic so much. The pics of the pink donut & tacos looked so delish. I want to go to Universal now, especially to visit Krustyland. What was your favorite part of the park? Awesome post, lovely!

    1. Thank you!! I’m a huge Simpsons fan so it’s fun to see Springfield come to life. But my favorite part was definitely the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I’ve read all the books and seen all the movies so it was quite a magical experience to walk through Hogsmeade and drink a butterbeer.
