Hi everyone! Last weekend, I spent two days in LA with my sister and our friend, Laura. As California natives, we’ve visited LA many times before. So everything we did last weekend, we’ve already done before. But if you’ve never been to LA before and don’t know what to do, here are some things to do within 48 hours in LA!
8 Things to do Within 48 Hours in LA
1) Check out a hotel’s restaurant and bar.
On our first day in LA, we were already exhausted from driving. We took it easy by doing some shopping and swimming. By the time we all washed up, we were hungry but too tired to drive anywhere. So we went downstairs to the hotel lobby, where there was a restaurant and bar area. I had a simple salad with delicious Asian pears.
2) Drink a green smoothie from a local juice bar.
Whenever I am on the go and don’t have time for breakfast, I’ll usually have an energy bar or smoothie in the morning. While scrolling through Yelp for smoothies and juice bars, we stumbled upon Qwench Juice Bar, which has various locations throughout LA. I got the Spinach Greens smoothie, which contains spinach, kale, mango, banana, coconut water, chia seeds, agave, and almonds.
3) Hike through Griffith Park.
Hiking the Hollywood Sign was an activity on our to-do list for the weekend. We really wanted to complete the hike but didn’t because we started too late in the afternoon and it was already hot. At least we can say we tried and there will always be another time.
4) Eat at Umami Burger.
My friend Laura is vegan and always raves about the Impossible Burger from Umami Burger, which is entirely vegan but “looks, tastes, and smells just like a beef burger.” Obviously, a stop at Umami Burger was a must for us! While Laura enjoyed her Impossible Burger, I had Sam’s Crispy Chicken.
5) Get coffee or tea from Alfred.
We’ve seen the popular quote, “But first, coffee” all over Instagram and Tumblr. But did you know that quote is registered and trademarked by Alfred? They have a few locations around LA and they’re all quite IG-worthy.
6) Attend a concert.
From the El Rey Theatre to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, LA is full of concert venues. This time, I went to see Harry Styles at the Forum, where he played two sold out shows in a row. What made it even more special was that we went to the last show of his first solo tour. Not to mention, he played “Kiwi” three times before finally leaving the stage.
7) Recharge with some ramen.
One of my most favorite places to eat in LA is JINYA Ramen Bar. I never went out for ramen until a few years ago, when I went to LA with some friends and they all wanted ramen. Now I understand the hype. The ramen from JINYA is so hearty and filling. It’s perfect on a cold day… Or when you’re recovering from the night before.
8) Get coffee or tea from Urth Caffé.
Another one of my favorite spots in LA is Urth Caffé. Before heading home, we stopped by Urth Caffé to fuel ourselves with caffeine. I got matcha tea with soy milk. But if you’re not into caffeine, they also have food!
It was a short but fun filled weekend in LA. It definitely helped me get my mind off of work and I can’t wait to go back.
