Happy New Year, everyone! I’m excited that this is my first post of 2018. The holidays, quality time with loved ones, and year-end projects at work have definitely kept me busy. Although I haven’t been as active as I’d like, it’s a new year and I get a fresh start! Instead of looking back on 2017, I’d like to look forward and focus on my goals and resolutions for 2018. Keep reading to see what I want to accomplish this year.
5 Goals and Resolutions for 2018
1) Keep a consistent blog schedule.
When it comes to Avec Valerie, my main goal for 2018 is to keep a consistent posting schedule. I try to publish a new post every Saturday but things get in the way and I haven’t always been consistent. In order to stay consistent, I plan on scheduling and drafting posts ahead of time.
2) Find the right balance between work life, personal life, and blogging.
In addition to keeping a consistent blog schedule, I want to find the right balance between work life, personal life, and blogging. I often blame work and my personal life for taking up most of my time. But the real reason is that I haven’t figured out how to juggle all three into my schedule. I’m still struggling to find the right balance and I know it’ll be a constant work in progress.
3) Get accepted into an MS/MPH program.
Outside of work and blogging, I still plan on continuing my education and advancing my career. As I have said numerous times in previous posts, I am currently working on grad school applications. I hope to get accepted into an MS/MPH program so I can begin my career in epidemiology.
4) Be financially smarter.
Another resolution for 2018 is to be financially smarter. A lot of times, I wasn’t able to save any money because I was living paycheck to paycheck. In 2018, I hope to stop transferring funds from my savings to my checking account. I also want to start investing in my future, such as setting up a 401(k) and an emergency fund.
5) Be more mindful.
Lastly, I hope to be more mindful in 2018. I want to be more mindful of my thoughts, emotions, and actions. I want to be more mindful of the environment and the people around me. Sometimes I’m so caught up with getting things done, I get anxious. In 2018, I want to slow down and focus on one thing at a time. It’ll help me be more mindful and in touch with myself and others.
Those are my five goals and resolutions for 2018. Change doesn’t happen overnight but if you constantly work at it, it’ll come your way. Now let’s speak these things into existence!
