Festival season is here! Weekend 1 of Coachella just ended and weekend 2 is about to start. I’m actually leaving for Coachella late tonight or early tomorrow! While I’m still packing my bags to camp out for four days, I thought I’d share what’s in my bag with all of you. This will be my first time at Coachella but I’ve been to enough music festivals and concerts to know what’s absolutely essential for such situations. Keep reading to see what’s in my bag — the “Coachella essentials” edition!
What’s in My Bag — Coachella Essentials Edition
The absolute essential for any outdoor event or activity is sunscreen, even if the sun isn’t out. I’ll be outside all weekend long and it’s going to be 100 degrees in Indio. So sunscreen is an absolute essential. I like to use Coppertone Sport Continuous SPF 100 Spray Sunscreen because it’s lightweight, non-sticky, and lasts long.
Just as it’s important to protect your skin, it’s also essential to protect your eyes from the sun’s rays. Plus, you need the shade to block out the rays so you can watch your favorite artists perform! I’m going for a bohemian look all weekend and my Spitfire British Riviera sunglasses are the perfect finishing touch. Expect a separate post for my Coachella lookbook soon. ?
In addition to protecting your skin and eyes, it’s essential to protect your lips, which are also part of your skin! As hot as it gets in Indio, it can get windy and dusty. And wind means dry skin. So you want to stay moisturized! Aquaphor Lip Repair is my current favorite for keeping my lips soft and supple. It’s definitely a Coachella essential and I’ll be carrying it with me in my bag.
If I could only carry one thing with me at an outdoor event during the summertime, it would most definitely be a facial spray. When you’re hot and sweating, it feels so refreshing to spritz your face with fragranced water. The Mario Badescu facial spray with aloe, herbs, and rosewater is one of my absolute favorites and it’s definitely a Coachella essential.
If for some strange reason you don’t like facial sprays, you could always use wet wipes instead. Kleenex Fresh On-the-Go wipes are perfect for freshening up your face and hands. Keep in mind — they aren’t flushable! That’s why I also bring Cottonelle FreshCare flushable cleansing cloths with me. Music festivals and outdoor events mean porta potties, which are already disgusting enough. And there’s no guarantee the porta potties will have toilet paper when you use them. So wet wipes are definitely Coachella essentials!
Another Coachella essential would definitely be hand sanitizer. Again, it’s going to be hot and dusty in Indio. And I’m sure water and soap would be a luxury there. So I’ll definitely be bringing hand sanitizer with me. But beware — security might make you toss it out. I had to throw mine away at Hard Summer and I’m still not sure why… maybe people sneak alcohol in hand sanitizer bottles? I honestly don’t know.
Carrying cash is another Coachella essential. You’ll never know which places or vendors accept card so it’s always safe to carry a little cash on you. It also makes things much easier if you’re splitting bills with friends. Just make sure you keep your cash in a safe spot so you don’t lose it.
Portable Phone Charger
The last Coachella essential in my bag is a portable phone charger. You’re going to be outdoors all day. Posting to your Snapchat story and trying to connect to a phone tower will drain your battery. There are charging stations at Coachella but it would be even better if you could charge your phone while you watched your favorite artist perform. The one I have was only $5 at Target and it charges my phone so fast! It also lasts for two full charges. I’ll be camping out for four days so I will definitely need my portable phone charger.
That’s all the Coachella essentials I plan on bringing with me in my little backpack! I have a separate weekend bag for my clothes, shoes, and toiletries. Plus, my sleeping bag!
