January 2017 Favorites

Hi everyone! What a month January has been… It went by so fast and I’m kind of glad it did. No more of that “New year, new me” nonsense. I feel like all I did this month was work but fortunately, I was able to take a little time to myself and enjoy some of the finer things. So here it is — my January 2017 favorites!

Keurig 2.0

January 2017 Favorites // Keurig 2.0

As a coffee addict, I’ve always wanted a Keurig. When I started my office job, I was ecstatic to find out that the break room has a traditional coffee pot and a Keurig with different K-cup flavors to choose from. And of course I take advantage of the office’s Keurig every morning. Then for Christmas, my sister got me a Keurig. And I’m forever thankful because her gift seriously keeps me going every day! Trust me, I’m not normal until I’ve had my coffee.

Ed Sheeran

If you’re on Twitter, you’ll know that Ed Sheeran took a mini-hiatus from social media and disappeared for awhile. But on the first Friday of 2017, my favorite redheaded singer-songwriter blessed us with not one, but two, new songs. By dropping two new singles and promoting it with his own Snapchat filter, Ed Sheeran single handedly kicked 2017 off to a good start. I can’t wait for his new album to release!

This is Us

A lot of my friends have been talking about This is Us and to be honest, I had no idea what it was. I thought it was just another drama that stole the title from One Direction’s concert film. But I recently binged on the Gilmore Girls Netflix revival and my girl school crush on Milo Ventimiglia was also revitalized. Then I heard he starred in This is Us and I had to check it out. Luckily, TBS was airing a marathon of the first half of season one and I was able to catch up before the second half of the season started.

On the Edge’s Site Launch

If you recall, my beautiful soul sister Kirsten invited me to be beauty editor for her online magazine, On the Edge. It’s been about half a year since OTE started out on Tumblr and it was time we switched over to our own domain. We also have a new look but our vision is still the same — to inspire and empower all our readers, whoever they may be! Check out our articles. We talk about everything from beauty to food to love and spirituality. New posts are published every Friday!

Women’s March on Washington

Speaking of inspiration and empowerment, the Women’s March on Washington definitely uplifted my spirits and revitalized my optimism. I briefly talked about it in my previous post and I’ll say it again — I used to be fearful for the future but not anymore. Seeing women (and men) participate in global solidarity instilled hope within me. The fight for our rights has just started and we won’t stop. They can’t stop us. We need to hold on to that energy we felt that day and use it to create something more beautiful. For me, I feel a mix of repressed anger and hope but I will turn that into something more positive. And so should you! Let’s keep our hopes high in 2017.
