On Mindfulness, Karma, and the Law of Attraction

Today’s post is going to be different than the standard beauty post. Since it’s Sunday, I like to take part in what I call “self-care Sunday.” I used to have Sundays off and I’d take the day to detach from social media, relax, and spend time with myself. Even though I work doubles on Sundays now, I still try to take some time at the end of the day to unwind and mentally prepare myself for the upcoming week. Since doing so, I’ve learned a lot about myself and have gained knowledge on mindfulness, karma, and the Law of Attraction. There is so much negativity in the world, I thought I’d share some of my recent experiences and lessons with all of you.

Mindfulness is the act of being aware of the present and accepting your current situation, no matter your thoughts or feelings. Whether things are going good or bad, you are aware of the present and you accept things for the way they are. You accept the things you cannot change or control. With this knowledge, you are better equipped with rational decision making. I recently learned about mindfulness and it has immensely helped with my anxiety. When deep breathing or counting to 10 don’t work for me, I remind myself to just stop and focus on the present. I become more aware of what’s going on around me. I pay attention to the sights and sounds. I also become self-aware of my emotions, actions, and behaviors and I accept them. I allow myself to feel anxious or upset but I do not let myself dwell in that situation. Instead, I take it as a learning experience. I try to figure out why I felt that way and how it can be prevented next time.

Karma

I’m sure we’re all familiar with karma but how many of us actually believe in it? They say what comes around, goes around. Your actions decide your consequences. Do good and good will come to you. Do bad and bad will come to you. I’m sure you all get the point. Until recently, I wasn’t sure if karma really existed or not. But that’s because I wasn’t being mindful of my own actions or emotions. Just the other day, I was confronted with negative words on social media. I could have reacted by picking a petty fight that would be useless and never-ending. Sure, I was livid but I decided not to act on my emotions. I didn’t do anything. My main concern was staying calm and not overreacting. And in less than 24 hours, karma worked out in my favor and I was able to experience it through my timeline. I decided not to feed into someone’s negativity because it would be a waste of time. And just like that, karma proved to me that she is real and will work out in my favor if I stay calm and positive.

The Law of Attraction

A few months ago, my friend Julie told me about the Law of Attraction. I was familiar with the concept of karma but not the Law of Attraction, which is very similar. Rather than doing good, the Law of Attraction states “like attracts like.” Positive thoughts attract positive experiences into your life whereas negative thoughts attract negative life experiences. If you’ve been keeping up with my blog and social media accounts, you’ll know that I recently graduated university and was in the process of applying to graduate schools. While waiting to receive admissions letters, I was constantly on edge and stressed out. But I tried to stay openminded and positive about it. I decided if I don’t get into a Masters program right away, there’s always next year or the following year. And if it doesn’t work out right away, it’s for a good reason. I decided if I don’t get in, I could finally take a year off from school and do what I’ve always to do — travel and attend music festivals. Just as I had intended, I didn’t get into any Masters programs… but it’s not the end of the world. Within the same month, I received 4 job opportunities, one of which I was a good candidate for. And I have accepted the job offer. It’s a part-time job but it’s a stepping stone that will get my foot in the door. Not to mention, I’ll have weekends off! I honestly believe I would not have gotten the job if it weren’t for my positivity, open mind, and the people I know.

The universe works in strange ways but if you stay calm, positive, and mindful, things will always work out in your favor. You just need a little faith and patience.

Have you had any experiences with mindfulness, karma, or the Law of Attraction?

Let me know on the comments! I’d love to spread peace and positivity with others.
