Benefit BADgal Waterproof Mascara: Product Review

Hello beautiful people! About a month ago, I ran out of my mascara and I needed a new one. Rather than purchasing drugstore mascara like I always do, I decided it was time to splurge on a high end mascara. I’ve heard so many great things about Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara but when I went to Ulta to look for it, they were unfortunately out of stock. I’ve used Benefit’s They’re Real lengthening mascara before but I don’t really like how it’s not waterproof and I just really wanted to try a new mascara. When it comes to mascara, I want a product that does everything — volumizes, lengthens, curls, and is waterproof. The sales associate at Ulta told me to try the Benefit BADgal waterproof mascara so I did. And here’s what I think of it.

Benefit BADgal Waterproof Mascara

As mentioned before, I’m reviewing Benefit BADgal waterproof mascara. It retails at $19.00 USD, which is a bit pricy for me because I usually buy drugstore brand mascaras. The only shade it comes in is black so you really don’t have a choice, unless you go with Benefit’s They’re Real mascara. A main ingredient in the BADgal waterproof mascara is castor oil, which is known for its hair growth and lengthening properties.

The Benefit BADgal waterproof mascara comes in a typical rectangular-shaped box that’s black and hot pink to give off that bad girl vibe. The mascara itself comes in a long, skinny black tube with a silver top. The wand has a slimline brush which makes it easier to coat every lash.

According to Sephora, the Benefit BADgal waterproof mascara is “smudge-proof, tear-proof, and long-wearing.” It’s also supposed to “lift, curl, and separate every lash.” The mascara also dries fast, making it easier to apply multiple coats.

Pros and Cons

  • does everything it claims to do
  • easy to apply
  • makes your eyes look bigger
  • looks natural

  • lift and curl doesn’t last all day
  • a bit pricy
  • doesn’t lengthen as much as other mascaras

Final Verdict

I’m a fan of Benefit’s products and I like how the Benefit BADgal waterproof mascara does everything it claims to do. It’s pretty good for a multitasking mascara that lengthens, volumizes, and curls all at once. I also like how it’s long-lasting and the only way I can get it off at the end of the day is with eye makeup remover. Like I said, $19 is more than what I’d usually pay for mascara. Would I ever buy it again? Probably not because I know of drugstore mascaras that work better than this one.
