As most of you may know, One Direction is my favorite band. Last week, they kicked off the US leg of their On the Road Again Tour. I’ve seen them twice before and I couldn’t miss them this time around, even though the only California dates they played were San Diego and Santa Clara. I decided to attend the SD show because I have a good friend who lives there and I wanted to spend time with her. So Tuesday night, my sister and I packed the car and drove off to SD.
Wednesday morning, we woke up and grabbed lunch at Banbu Sushi Bar & Grill in La Mesa since we were all craving sushi. I got the Protein Roll, which consists of “yellowtail, salmon, crab salad, avocado and tuna wrapped with cucumber topped with ponzu sauce.” It was so crunchy and delicious! And of course, I always have to get seaweed salad with my sushi. It’s a must!
We then spent the afternoon in Downtown Mesa and walked around the little shops and boutiques while my friend got her hair done. For dinner, we stopped by Pizzeria Luigi for some slices of doughy goodness. Since the slices were thin crust but huge, I ordered one slice of margharita pizza, which is my current favorite.
After dinner, we went back to the apartment and called it a night. Thursday morning, my friend left for work while my sister and I grabbed lunch at Ripe, a neighborhood market and deli in North Park. Both my sister and I got the protein salad, which consisted of “baby spinach topped with turkey, hummus, avocado, cucumber, tomato, and red onion.”
After lunch, we stopped by Qualcomm Stadium to get our tickets and then went back to the apartment for a quick nap. When our friend came home from work, we got ready and left for the concert.
We weren’t able to get floor seats but our view wasn’t bad at all!
As mentioned before, I’m a huge 1D fan. I’ve met some of my closest friends through the band and I’m so proud of the effort everyone puts into the shows. During “You & I,” everyone held up the same sign for the boys. It’s amazing to see how much of an impact the boys and the fans have on each other.
That was all I captured from the concert. I have a few other pictures and videos but I wanted to focus more on being in the moment and actually enjoy the experience. I went so wild during most of their set, I woke up the next morning and my whole body was sore!
Since we were basically hungover from the concert, we decided Friday would be a chill, relaxing day for us. While my friend was at work, my sister and I spent the day in Coronado. I was craving fish tacos and my sister wanted raw oysters so we stopped by Islander for happy hour. We ended up getting full off of red sangria and beer, raw Fanny Bay oysters with cocktail sauce and horseradish, pollock and salmon tacos, and Alaskan pollock ceviche. You can never go wrong with seafood. I love it so much!
Friday was our last night in SD so we celebrated by getting Thai food for dinner and then went to the bar that my friend frequents. We called it an early night since I had to drive back home on Saturday. Before we left, we stopped by Parkhouse Eatery in University Heights for brunch. I got a pomegranate mimosa with eggs benedict. It was so yummy and satisfying!
It hasn’t even been a week yet but I’m severely suffering from post-concert depression! Plus, SD was the perfect getaway from stress and work. I already can’t wait to go back!
